What I Love About Fall

I know that we are still squeezing out the last of summer but I am so excited about Fall!!
Fall is my favorite time of the year and here in Michigan I can see that the leaves are already starting to turn a bit and the acorns are falling on our house.

Here are a few images of fall that just say cozy love to me!!!

Enjoy!!!

My favorite is cuddling up on a chilly night by the fire watching a great movie with my family.
As I say good bye to summer, I most certainly welcome in the fresh fall air and colors.

Enjoy your last weekend!
Be safe and I will see you next week!!!

Plank Wall Love

Heellluuuurrrrrr to you!!!!
I hope you had a great weekend!
I know for some it was the last weekend of the summer and I hope you enjoyed it.
We have one more week left and it is going to be a busy one!

I also hope my friends and family on the East Coast stayed safe from the path of Irene.

If you have followed me for a while you know the love affair I have for plank walls.
If I could, I would plank my entire house!!
Overboard, maybe.

BUT I HEART THEM SO MUCH!!

Just look at how beautiful they are!!

They just make me ooohhh and aahhhhh!!!!

Look, you can even do a plank by your plank walls!!

Hardy har har!!
Sorry about that. :)

Anyway where was I?
Oh, for my sons room I wanted to do something on one of his walls to make it feel beachy and cottagey.
I took inspiration from this photo on Pinterest.

And I came up with this.

I used 1 x 10's that were 6 feet long.
I nailed them to the wall and then took 1 x 2's and made the vertical pieces.
For whatever reason I didn't take photos of the process.
Bad blogger!!!

I really loved how it turned out and even found a spot for the driftwood shark.

Speaking of yummy plank walls,
my dear friend Sandra from Frugal French Girl went to visit her niece to help her redo her kitchen and they were offered this beautiful barn wood to make whatever their hearts desired!

This is what they came up with!

Talk about barnwood/plank wall jealousy!!!
To see how the whole kitchen turned out, just go here!

While you are there you have to take a look around at her amazing talent!
Sandra is the sweetest, she can write, she can build, she can decorate and most of all she is such an amazing kindred and friend.

This is her canopy that she built in her gorgeous beachy bedroom!!!

I will be a bit MIA this week.
We are getting ready for school and I have to work extra this week due to the Holiday. The restaurant that I work at is in a resort town so we are planning on being a tad more busy....fingers crossed. :)

Hopefully after school starts I can get back to regular blogs because there is a room that I need to show you! :)

***sorry I posted this again, when I originally posted it it posted with a date of 8/17 I think.
oops! :)

Images of the Day

I thought I would pop in and show you what we did today.
The wind was blowing hard today and Lake Michigan waves were high so we went out to

do a little wave jumping,

watch a few surfers
(yes, you can even surf on Lake Michigan when the waves are right)

and watch two jet skiers jump the waves.
They really caught some great air out there.

I was also introduced to this amazing app from Val at ValSoCal called Instagram.

It is SO COOL!!!!!

Here are a few things that you can do with it.

All these were taken with my iPhone and then adjusted on the Instagram App.
LOVE!!!

Odds and Ends of a Boy's Room and a Winner

Greetings my dears!
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend.
It was beautiful here Sunday, actually almost perfect, and I got some much needed relaxation time, well after doing a few things around the house.

The job is going good and I am starting to fall into a routine, although it will only get interrupted with school starting soon so I will again find a new routine. :)

Before I get too far into the post, I chose the winner of the Simple Daisy Giveaway via Random Number Generator.

Congrats to........

#54 - Auntie Bliss!!!

I will let Heather know and pass on your email address so she can ship it to you!!
Enjoy your beautiful bracelet!!!!

And don't forget, Heather is still offering 20% off any item in her shop through Wednesday!
Just enter emerald20 at checkout.

I know that I have been dragging out this shark room for the entire summer, I am sorry.
Lately I haven't had time to finish some things that I have wanted to do but I wanted to show you some of the things that I actually did finish.

I shared this on my guest post at Simple Daisy and some of you wanted to see the end result.

I decided to take the shark cut out that I did earlier this summer and cover it with some driftwood that I collected while on vacation.

I just layered the driftwood

until the shark was all covered.
Easy and WAY cheaper than the pottery barn ones.

My next project that I did was actually really fun!
Well, for me at least. :)

I busted out the jig saw again!
WOO HOO!!

My son wanted a surfboard in his room and after looking on line for some and not finding any cheap, I decided to make my own and add a little something to it.

Drew my pattern,

cut,

and sanded the edges to round them a bit.

You see where I am going with this?

Yup, a shark bite out of the surfboard.

Which of course in real life is SO NOT cool,
but for a fun boys room I thought it was kind of cool. :)

I then painted it up and added a little graphic that I found online which I used transfer paper and then hand-painted it.

Ta-dah!!!

I was pretty happy about it and had alot of fun making it. :)

Next I will share the wall that I put up and then hopefully soon I will show the whole room.
I know, I know, about time!!

Until then, enjoy your week.

I know that Bosco is enjoying his already.
Oh the life. :)
