My Christmas in Short

Hello my friends!!
I have missed you!
I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and weekend with friends and family!
I can't believe that Christmas has come and gone already and we are looking at a
New Year!!

My week away was busy filled with kids, eating, shopping, eating, wrapping (ugh), making gifts, eating, celebrating and more eating with friends and family!!
I enjoyed it all!!

(Christmas Eve at my parents: my hubby in the chair, my daughter in the blue and purple sweatshirt and my nieces and nephews)

While we had a white Christmas our last snow was about a week and a half ago.
I see that some of you had your first white Christmas, that is so amazing and beautiful!!

I am ready for spring now!! (wink)

Last week I also won a couple of giveaways which I would love to share with you!

The first one was from Doberman's by the Sea.
My friend Simone has been sharing a Bavarian Christmas with us throughout the holiday and I was so happy that she did!
I had a wonderful time reading about Christmas in Germany (my great grand parents were born in Germany)
and I was so excited when I found out that I won these;

A set of Käthe Wohlfahrt’s (a Christmas store located in Christmastown Germany or Rothenburg) handmade ornaments.

Aren't they adorable!!
They are so amazing and delicate!
If you missed Simone's Bavarian holiday, click here to get to the first post.

Her blog is just wonderful and has so many seaside living inspirations!

My next surprise came from my friend Carmie at The Single Nester.
This was her A Christmas Thank you Giveaway!

She has such an amazing blog filled with heart, love, honesty and she just makes me laugh sometimes!

This is how my winnings arrived.

Tea lite holders, a beautiful snowman and an adorable friends ornament,

A beautiful German Lead Crystal Angel Bell.
LOVE!

Two small books that I can't wait to read!
I love books like this that just remind you of what is important in life.

And adorable little note cards/paper that will come in VERY handy!!

Thank you, Thank you so much Carmie and Simone!

They are wonderful treasures from my dear friends!

I have already began to take down my Christmas things...

I know, I know, but they have been up since October 31st! :)

I LOVE Christmas but every year, towards the end, I start to peeter out and become a little claustrophobic and antsy to get started on some new things.

So, here is what I am looking at this week,

(This is what my house normally looks like, especially the kitchen)

I will be back later to tell you my New Years Resolution and some
projects that I hope to do to keep sane this winter!!!

Have a wonderful start to the week!!

Good morning, Michelle! What a lovely afterglow you have going on here! SInce I go back to my classroom next Monday, I figured I better get an early start and put away all my decorations! But our construction is leaving me no other alternative but to make room for the DUST that will soon be made when they connect the old structure to the new!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Anita

I am so glad that I'm not the only one who's house looks like a bomb went off inside, LOL!!! I dread having to clean it all up. Hmmmmm, how can I bribe the 11 year old to get him to help me? :)

Hi Michelle! Christmas Eve at your parents looks like such a cozy scene. I love all the ornaments and gifts you won too!

I am glad that I am not the only one with a cluttery kitchen :) I have not started dismantling Christmas yet. I am sad whenever we take the tree down because it adds such a pretty ambiance to the room.

Morning Michelle!

Looks like a fun Christmas at your parents and love the handmade ornaments from Germany. Cute stuff!

Your post is seriously making me laugh... I love it! My house is the same. The dining room and kitchen table are loaded with stuff. UGH! Hubby is taking the kids to a movie so I'm off to clear away.

Take care... I'll be back for the "after" post :) xx

Hey nice to see what the house really looks like...I want to put stuff today as well. I had enough. I felt like taking it down even on christmas eve but you know that would not have gone over so well. I hope you get help cleaning up the mess.

Thank you for mentioning my giveaway. I was glad such a sweet woman won it! If my typing is off right now, it is because I just spent 3 hours shoveling snow. I really thought that photo of your family was a painting or something. How gorgeous to see the family and the fire and the decorations. Wish I could have superimposed myself into the photo!

I am so glad you had a good Christmas.

I'm with you about being ready to get stuff put away now. It all kind of starts closing in after awhile. I just dread getting started.

Hey Michelle,

Aren't you a lucky girl this week! I should start entering some of those giveaways myself! Hope you are well, I totally understand about taking things down already. We are actually now visiting family still. Pretty bummed I didn't get my day after Christmas lounge around. Instead I had the, hurry quick and pack a day early to beat the snow! Oh well, we are certainly in the snow and all the kids are out in it right now which is the only way I am getting a turn at the computer! Thought I would take my minute and check in with you. Have a happy new year and talk with you soon!

Hey stranger! First of all, let me just tell you that I LOVE your new profile photo! You are one beautiful gal! :-) Secondly, that first pic of you guys at your parent's house looks like a postcard for the perfect Christmas. Like something out of a magazine! And, I am so glad to see your house lookin' like that because mine is on it's way into the "a bomb exploded in here" stage. It is kinda sad and yet cathartic at the same time to make a clean slate, you know? It is so fun connecting with everyone and I look forward to seeing your projects for the New Year!
Blessings my friend,
Vanessa

Oh my goodness we are so much alike. Check out your painted cabinets and "Nantucket" sign in the kitchen! I can't wait to paint my cabinets someday! Your kitchen would fit right in here in New England! Anyway- I feel the same way, can't wait to say goodbye to Christmas and move on to new projects and less clutter!

Sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas! My house will look the same shortly. I can't take it apart just yet as I am still expecting company in a couple of days! I'm tired already. I just hope I can make it through.

You received a lot of nice surprises in the mail from your giveaways. I especially love the German ornaments since I have a few from when we lived there. I wish I had gotten more :)

Your Christmas sounds wonderful Michelle, but I have to say that your cats look a little over it all in that last image, lol. They look like they are asking, "Are we there yet?"

Those ornaments are adorable!! I know what you mean about feeling claustrophobic...I am feeling the same way. At first I always feel like the Christmas decor warms up the house and now I feel like it's cluttering up the house...time to put it all back in the basement! Hope you have a fabulous New Year!
