A Summer Sunset

One of the best things about being at Glen Lake is that Lake Michigan is only two minutes away. I know that I only live like two minutes from Lake Michigan but Lake Michigan up north is extra special. The water there is cleaner, bluer and there are the North and South Manitou Islands that are so beautiful.
One night we went down and watched another beautiful Up North Lake Michigan sunset.

I couldn't believe how red and glowing the sun was that night. It was hazy so it seemed as if the whole sky just absorbed all the color and it spread all across the sky.

I took about a bajillion pictures but I will only show you some of my favorite. :)

I did not alter anything except only to lighten them up a tad. I also took these using my "Sunset" mode on my camera.

The photo above shows the part of the North Manitou Island and the photo below is my daughter looking for Petosky Stones and in the distance you can see the whole island.

Large ships still pass through here making their way to the Straits of Mackinac.

It was such a beautiful night and reminds me how amazing Lake Michigan really is.

*******

I purchased some Chalk Paint today and so far I am L-O-V-I-N-G (insert singing voice) it!!
I am painting the dresser and bed in my son's room and hopefully I can show you soon!

Have a wonderful day!!
Hugs!!!

P.S. - I also wanted welcome all my new friends/followers here and thank you so much for jumping aboard with me! :)
Thank you all for all your wonderful comments, this is such an amazing place of friendship and support.

GOOD EVENING DEAREST!

Wow. Your lake is absolutely OCEAN-LIKE...you have no need to go to the coasts, but for sure, you probably would love to go...but what you have here is so beautiful! WELCOME HOME, again! I too am having such a wonderful summer, staying home, staying put, creating, reading, drawing, painting furniture and more. Yes, Blogland is a wonderful place of support with the best of friends!!!

Have a lovely evening dear one, Anita

I never tire of sunset pictures. Each one is always better than the last, don't you think? But my favorite was the one with the sailboat. Perfect!!

Hi Dear Michelle
Welcome home.. lovely to see your beautiful shots of YOUR lake.. it certainly is more like the ocean and I look forward to seeing more.. I'm sure you will have more for us.. yes? I rarely get to see the sun setting over the ocean being an east coast girl... although I don't mind as I get to see the moon rise over instead..

Have a lovely week playing with your chalk paint.. ciao ciao xxx Julie

Amazing photos! We're taking a camping trip to Michigan next month and I can't wait!! My daughter has never been to Mackinac or the island so we're going to take care of that. After we stop in Ann Arbor to show her where her college is..LOL!

Hey Michelle!
I've missed reading your blog the past few weeks. But I am so glad you enjoyed your vacation!! What gorgeous pitures!!:)

I am sooooo excited to see what you have done with your son's room! I hope you can give me some inspiration:)

I am going to try to get back into blogging soon...Summer has been crazy busy at work and home, and I still haven't found my groove yet. I guess going from stay-at-home-mom, to having a full time (plus extra) job, has been a bigger adjustment than I thought. (But I always make time to read my favorite blogs ♥)

Hugs to you too!
Jessie

Dearest Friend!

Oh thank you for being here when I came to my computer! We just came in from a beautiful walk, for FINALLY, the morning air is bearable! For the last WEEK it has been so oppressively HOT even in the wee hours of the morning! But I understand this heat wave is moving east, so for our dear friends in New York, New England and the other eastern states, we need to pray for them!

ENJOY PAINTING, CLEANING, DREAMING...whatever your beautiful heart desires to do this lovely summer day! Anita

I am from Traverse City and I used to live right on Grand Traverse Bay and I worked at a camera store and would go through a whole roll (remember those) of film to take sunsets every night.

WOW MIchelle, those are the most amazing sunset pictures. How incredibly beautiful. I wish I was there, sipping on some Coronas with you, I read you DO THAT, he he. It sounds like you had the BEST vacation, and I'm so gald for that.

I want to visit Michigan one day, can I come see you girl, he he. There are TONS AND TONS of Romanians in Michigan, did you know that. Seriously, that and OHIP, I think most live there, lol.

Seriously though, I would be thrilled to go visit sometime, but only with the most WONDERFUL tour guide, and friend. That would be THE BEST!!

Can't wait to see what you do with that chalkboard paint, I know it will be awesome!!

Love ya, and p.s today I used you as an example to another friend of mine, how to increase comment love on your blog. I told her about you, and how you always have TONS of comments on your blog. The reason you do is because YOU leave tons of comments for your favs, and have made some really great friends. I think you are the PERFECT example of what I want for my blog. Faithful READERS, who are TRUE friends. Nothing could make me happier, and I look up to you as my inspiration of what blogging is all about , FOR ME, anyway. So I think I will do a post on you as well, if you don't mind. Don't worry I will only tell everyone HOW MUCH I adore you. I'll let you know when it's up so you can check it out. Have a great day my friend!!

Hugs, Bella :)
