Around the Cove

Hello lovely ladies and of course handsome gents!
I hope you are all well and had a good weekend.
Things are ok here.  My hubby's surgery went well and he is resting somewhat uncomfortably right now but hopefully within the next couple days he will be feeling better.  Thank you all so much for the well wishes, prayers, emails, phone calls and gifts, I can't tell you how much they mean to us and if I could, I would give you all huge hugs!  :)
You certainly know how to raise one spirits.

The day after Christmas I took all the Christmas stuff down and started rearranging things around The Cove.  I also got my butt back upstairs to my bonus room which had sat there for weeks untouched.
I started adding back to my decor my love for all things beach and shabby.

I received this beautiful lacy linen and porcelain box from my dear and beautiful friend Sandra and thought they looked perfect with boat and other treasures.

A peak from the family room into the kitchen.

My daughter made me the beach sign.
She had a great time making signs this year for everyone and they all turned out beautiful.

Some of you were wondering what that was hanging from my dividers from my last post.
It is a driftwood garland.
It usually makes it way around the house.

I added my faux coral and beautiful aqua bottles to my hutch.

In the bonus room I decided to brighten it up a bit and add more beachy touches up there;  after all, that's what makes me the happiest. :)

I finally found a spot for my ladder that I picked up last summer at the Flea Market.
I then made a mirror, with the looking glass spray,  from a large picture frame that I had.
I used the technique that Kindra (she always knocks my socks off with her amazing crafts) used on her door here.
It is hard to see and I should have taken an up-close photo but it looks worn and old.
I also made some paint jars which I will show you more of later. :)

I splurged at Target for this glass lamp.
I LOVE these alot and even though it wasn't PB price, it was still about $40, but so worth it for me.

I made the lamp shade out of two pillow cases and I will show you how to do that in another post.

I took some more of my faux coral and added a starfish and driftwood.
This makes me happy. :)

I had this little caddy in my family room and thought maybe he would like to live here for a while filled with driftwood and more starfish.
Did I ever tell you how much I love driftwood?  ;)
The beautiful paintings are from the ever-so-lovely Michele, who so graciously painted these for me.

So there you have it, a little trip around The Cove.
I am off to go take care of my patient and I hope you have a wonderful week!

OH!

you know how much i love the driftwood boat, and even though i haven't shared pics with the world, all of my friends have seen the one you made for me. it sits atop a HUGE sideboard/wardrobe from Belgian that you would absolutely love. the scale of the boat is just so right with that of the cupboard.

the ladder with the frame! omg so many gorgeous moments around your home. i love what you've done with the panels! i feel very fancy, you sweet thing.

just a feeling, but i think we will prob meet in 2012. we don't live THAT far away, and have i told you i lived in michigan for awhile as a kid? yep. i loved it.

smiles and love to you just where you are, and a special wish to your husband as he heals.

HI Michelle. I've been interstate for 2 weeks and missed the news about Mr Cove. Surgery sounds serious. I'll scroll back and see what's up!!!!

If I was sick I think I'd want you as my nurse....so no wonder he's resting comfortably.

He's sure to pick up under your care!!!

I have to say I love the light shade and how you decorated the base. I have coverted one of these for ages but they are about $129 here in Australia so I am still waiting. I love what you have done with yours and your little cove house is looking lovely as always.

Wishing you every happiness and sucess for 2012.

I am so glad your hubby's surgery went well. Now for the recovery period...where all men seem to "suffer" worse than we do.

Everything is looking ship shape around your home, Michelle. Great photos- xo Diana

your daughter did a fab job on the sign, I like the colors and I have got to get myself a glass lamp like that. I have been looking for lamps but could not find any that drew me and those fit the bill! All the best for your hubby, with you as the nurse he should do just fine.

Happy New Year!! Thank you for sharing your pictures with us. They are stunning. Love the second picture. So pretty!
We are in the process of taking down our Christmas decor. Makes me sad but looking forward to changing things up again.
Take care,

Everything looks so calm and serene. Love it. Just getting caught up on some of your last posts. Happy new year! I loved your post on picking up painting again. I took that scary step forward a couple years ago, and it is amazing where that path has led. I hope you go for it and that it brings you joy and confidence!

Dear Michelle,
I seem to have missed so many of your recent posts and quite sad about that, especially as you seem to have been a bit in the doldrums. I believe it's just the time of year, the winter solstice when energy is sapped and as with the animal world, we should be in hibernation. I would be quite happy to stay in bed in the deep winter months, not very productive, but good for the soul. The nights will soon be drawing out, buds coming into view and things will seem different my friend.

The house looks wonderful, you have such a wonderful touch!

Keep smiling lovely girl!

Hey Nurse Michelle! Glad to hear that the hubster's on the road to recovery. Praying that his pain will go away soon and that he'll back on his feet again! :)

Ok....down to business. You continue to amaze me with your hidden talents, lil sis! lol! You're burning up that sewing machine with all sorts of wonderful looking projects, and that looking glass paint is soooo cool! I'm going to use it for a faux mirror in a vintage frame that was going to be very expensive to have a mirror put in. This way will be lots cheaper! Your bonus room is looking so very pretty, Michelle. I adore the way you decorate! :)

I HEART THE LADDER with the vase on it. It's gorgeous. And and, I would love to know about the paint jars.

I love all your beachy touches, especially paired with the aqua glass. The little sign your daughter made is precious. My kids made us each a canvas with verses on it. I will be blogging about them soon. They are so special to us.
