Thank you for all your kind comments on my little trip around The Cove here, I am really enjoying floofing around the house and putting treasures in different rooms and just seeing what I can come up with.
When I was glued to Pinterest looking for inspirations for the bonus room I ran across this:
I love the shabbiness of it and it looked like something that I could handle, so off to Walmart I went.
I picked up two standard white pillowcases for around $10.
I cut the pillowcase so I could get as many strips out as I could.
Just make sure that your strips are going to be long enough to go around the lamp shade.
Just make sure that your strips are going to be long enough to go around the lamp shade.
To make things easier, I cut into it about an inch and then ripped the rest of the way.
These sheets tear brilliantly!
I had just enough strips to cover the shade and I am sure that there is some mathematical way to figure that out before you start but unfortunately I don't know that. :)
So, I guessed. :)
Now you just tie on your strips and place the knot/bow in the position that want overlapping each strip.
You will have little gaps in certain areas but if your shade is the same color you won't notice.
(Although it would be cool to do a different color and have that contrast)
Here is what it looks like all finished up.
Now you noticed that this is a different lamp and shade then the one I showed in my last post and the reason being I just changed my mind. :)
I wanted to show you how it originally started out and how it can look like this, which I do love, but I wasn't feeling it in the room.
So, all I did was put all the knots/bows on the inside of the shade and if I ever want a change, it is an easy switch.
I love how it turned out and think that this way fit the room a little more than what I originally had in mind. :)

Michelle, that is so clever and pretty! Do you have to worry about the fabric touching the light bulb?
Okay that is the cutest thing ever and I totally love that you can switch it up...and no sewing (yaa!). This is awesome!

So pretty, Michelle! I love this idea! I could just imagine a similar shade in a little girls' room or nursery!
I love them both! My first thought on reading this was "I don't remember the knots?"... but how fabulous that you can have it with or without!
I'm going to have a new room to work on soon and this lamp shade will fit right in... I'll just have to decide if it will be with or without ;)

Either way, they are both really cute. I love the glass lamp from Target. I have 2 from a long time ago that are straight cylinders but the bottoms don't open up! Oh, I wanted to ask where you got the silver floor lamp in your family room. It might be what I need by my sewing machine.
Fantastic. I thought they were different lamp shades. I love them both ways. And the glass stand is just amazing.
Have a fabulous week
