I know, it is another "Up North" post but there is so much that I love to share with you about my little piece of heaven! So.....
Up north near 'our' cottage there is a beautiful white barn that I am completely infatuated with; The D.H. Day Barn.
I am not really sure why I am so in love with this barn other than it is SO
beautiful.
It was built in the 1880's by David Henry Day. Over time he owned more than 5000 acres. He sold and donated much of that land to the State of Michigan. Most of which is now D.H. Day State Park which is part of Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore.
I was never able to see it "working" like it was meant to do but the government had started to restored it and now I believe now it is privately owned.
The farm itself was 400 acres and housed hogs, Holsteins and grew hay, apples and cherries.
