Huh.....

...that is how I feel today.
You know, just......huh.
Not bad, not good.
Not sure why, just one of those days I guess.
Last week was a long week with my brother in law in the hospital (he is home now and doing very well, thank you, thank you for all your thoughts and prayers) and then my little man was pretty sick all week long.
He is feeling much better now and back his naughty little self.
I guess he couldn't have picked a better week to be sick, it rained here the entire week and was cold which made it for good snuggle weather.

So today it was back to somewhat normal.
I played around with my blog a bit.
Changed my header and a few other things.
I also added piano music.
I love piano music, especially in the fall by the fire, so cozy and relaxing.
I hope you enjoy it, if not you can pause it, no worries. :)

I Did laundry.
Ran a few errands, nothing special.

I think what I was really doing was procrastinating.

Remember I showed you this room last post?

Well here is what it looks like now.

I have the wall all painted and the floor ready to be painted.

But I am afraid.

I looked at a ton of beautiful inspirations this weekend for the direction I want to go with this room, like

this

or maybe this,

or perhaps this

I really love the farmhouse/romantic/industrial look and I want something a little but different from the rest of the house.
Don't worry, I will still add a few of my favorite beachy things. :)

I also played with the flooring and how I wanted to go about painting it.
I picked up some sample colors and a wood grain tool and went at it.

And then after I spotted a piece of wood that I had painted with my living room trim color and tried a white glaze over the top and
LOVED IT!

This is what I am going to attempt to do to the plywood floor.
(Good thing I bought all the sample paints just to use what I already had, UGH!)

So here I go.
If you hear a loud scream it will probably be me trying to figure out how to use the wood grain tool on a large floor without smearing it and messing it all up.
I think I am going to work in sections and see how that goes.

I will be back soon!

Have a great week!

Michelle, I've been trying to get caught up on some blog reading and I'm sorry I didn't know your brother in law had been sick! I am glad that both he and your son are feeling better.

And your brother's wedding was so beautiful! I'm so glad it was a perfect day for them after everything they have been through in the past few weeks.

Your room already looks wonderful, and I can't wait to see the finished project, I know it will be amazing! Your inspiration photos are all so beautiful, and that wood grain technique is too cool!

I think that floor is going to be so cool! I am jealous. I want a plywood floor now! My terrible carpet is covering concrete. No fun. I think the room is gonna be great. I like that 3rd look. I love the industrial farmhouse look. I am so excited to see the end result. I am also glad your brother is recovering and everyone is feeling better.

First of all, that feeling you are having?

HORMONES! Yes. HORMONES. I know you are a lot younger than me, but I am grateful that through this MENOPAUSE period I am experiencing, I am not having hot flashes but rather, occasional mood swings. NOT BAD, but I know that it is the hormones. I read once that BROCCOLI is good to eat to make menopause a lot more tolerable. I think mine so far is not too bad because I have been eating the green veggie in mass quantities for YEARS!

NOW THE FLOOR. I want to paint my bedroom floor white since I have those wide-planked pine floors. I think your floors will be gorgeous and you will be happy with them! But you have a smart idea; start small!!!

LOVE YOUR NEW BANNER MY SWEET FRIEND! Anita

You know...a bare room can be a scary thing sometimes, can't it? So many directions to go and you want to make sure it is the RIGHT one. I feel for you. Sometimes it is easier when there is SOMETHING that you KNOW you have to work with. Glad everyone is feeling better...and I hope your week is wonderful~ xo Diana

First Michelle I LOVE your new header!
So excited to see you work your magic on this space! I think the type of floor color you are going with gives a nod to your beach style. My favorite inspiration photo is the last one, love the chicken coop table! Wish I didn't pass on the ones at the shop!

This is going to turn out awesome for sure. One of the things I love about blogging is all of the creative women I have to inspire me. I may just borrow this idea for my basement floor. I don't want to spend a lot of money on a floor that may get wet. Thanks for inspiring. Now I am off to read about that lazy boy slipcover, another situation I want to fix-husbands ugly lazy boy.

wow, I have that wood graining tool but could never master it. Your samples look great! Hmm, maybe I should play with it some more again and be a bit more patient. If you stumble on any tricks on making it easier, please share! We have a ton of plywood (cabinet grade that is beautiful) we are thinking of using for our downstairs flooring. Cut it into planks etc, the wood graining would make it that much more lovely. Okay so today I will dig it out of my stash of tools and try it again.
