More Fall Fun and Floor Update

Hello there!!
I have missed you all but had a great week last week unplugging for a bit.
It was so nice here so we took advantage of the weather and played outside.
I really do not like raking leaves but watching the boy play in them was so fun, he just makes me laugh.

I also got a little bit of time to work on the bonus room floor.
Here are a couple photos of the wood graining process so far.

It is turning out ok for the most part but like I had said earlier, it is difficult to get a nice wood look when the plywood is rough and uneven.
BUT
I love the shabbiness of it so I am good with it.

I have also decided to add another process to it, not sure why I do this to myself.
I found a stain called Sunbleached at Lowes and I love it!
I played around with it on my sample board and it really warmed up the wood so I am going to apply that over top the stain like you see above in the corner there.
I will then sand some of the areas to get a more warn look.
Well at least that is what I have in my mind as of now.

Here is how the whole room looks so far.
It is hard to see the floors but I am about a little over half way done with the graining.
I didn't fill the lines where the boards meet cause, well, I am lazy. I would tell you that it looks more shabby that way but that really isn't the case. :)
I am hoping with a few area rugs that it won't be so bad.

The weather has turned cooler and windy here so this is my goal for this week.

Have a wonderful week!!

How fun! My boys keep watching the leaves fall and asking,"can we rake them today?" Oh, there are just not enough yet for a pile to jump in. Your floors look amazing! I love them :) Love your new header too! Hope you had a wonderful week away from the computer. It's sometimes nice to have a break.

It looks great so far. I have tried that woodgraining and it is NOT easy...especially not on a piece of work this big! You know what? Even if you had tried to fill in the joints where the boards meet and tried to sand them, etc., they still would show up a bit different when you were done..they take the stain differenly. I think adding that warm stain will be the perfect finishing touch. I'm betting once you get it stained you won't be adding "worn" areas. And the poly finish will REALLY bring out the wood grain too! GREAT GREAT job! xo Diana

Michelle that is going to look incredible when you add your decorative touches. You really stay busy. I love the soft sea greens and blues that we're getting a glimpse of too in the sofa. Can't wait to see the rest. tami

The floor is looking really good Michelle. I have not heard of the new stain. Looking forward to seeing it on the floor. I have a bonus room like that also. My window is smaller though. I have not even touched it. My son has his games in there and I've ignored it!

Your son is adorable! It looks like he's having so much fun. My boys are lovin' getting to jump in the leaves. We couldn't do that in Las Vegas.

Your sons photos are beautiful. Try having him stand and throw the leaves into the air and then snap the shot. I did that with my daughter when she was little and its my favorite autumn picture! I can't wait to see how your room turns out!

How precious are the photos of your son in the leaves. I remember raking up a big pile of leaves just so we could jump in them. Work was so much more enjoyable when it had a fun purpose!

Your floor is looking amazing! Can't wait to see what you do with the room.
Have a lovely week. {{{hugs}}}
