Fun Faux Coral

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend!
The weather has turned on us here and it has been raining and cold all weekend!
UGH!
Hopefully the sun will come back soon because I was so loving it!!

My friend Kindra from At Home With K sent me this post that Beth from The Stories of A to Z did on faux coral.

They are in the pet section at Walmart and are only $8.88 each which is far less than what I have seen in other places.

So, I ran to Walmart and picked up my little goodies!!!

I was so excited that I forgot to take before pics and after the first coat was applied I quick snapped a picture. :)

The faux coral were red, green and orange.

PREEETTYYYY!!!!!

I already had the paint, lots of white spray paint...LOTS!
(sorry about the picture, I painted in the basement and we do not have great lighting there)

After about 5 or 6 coats of white primer and white paint I placed them on my mantel.

However, I was not digging them there or the bright white so I took them back downstairs and gave them a couple coats of a creamier white that I had on hand and this time found them a new home in the kitchen under my cloche.

Much better!!!

The Keep Calm and Carry on sign I won over at Blessedmom's Simple Home a while ago. Marcia is so sweet and her blog is just beautifully filled with her photography, family and love.

I also wanted to wish my mom a very Happy Birthday today!!
I won't tell you how young she is but I will say that I am praying that I look this beautiful when I grow up. :)

Thank you for all that you have done and all that you continue to do for me.
I couldn't have accomplished what I have with out your guidance, support, friendship and love.

I LOVE YOU!!!!!!

Update

I can't even put into words how thankful I am for friends like you! I was so overwhelmed (in a great way) with all your kinds words of encouragement, thoughts and prayers. You have all touched my heart deeply! I am so humbled by this blog world and how each of you does not hesitate to reach out to one another in a time of need.
My dad told me that my mom read my post and was just overwhelmed (again in a good way) at all the kindness that you all showed to someone you have never physically met.
She thanks you!

My mom did great during surgery and came home yesterday to rest and heal. The doctors said that everything went well and that he is hopeful that they will not have to do this again! It was a tricky surgery because they worked very close to her optic nerve and other important areas (can't remember the technical terms) but nothing was nicked or touched. I guess they did A LOT of scrapping (sorry, I know that sounded awful) to get all the infection out. She is in a good bit of pain but that should subside each day as swelling goes down and things start to heal up. She goes back on December 20 to see how things are progressing and my mom and dad ar
e still planning a trip to Williamsburg, which is one of their favorite places to visit.
My dad told me that my mom read my post and was just overwhelmed at all the kindness that you all showed to someone you have never physically met.

My craft show went well today! I was afraid after yesterday that it was going to be a bust but it turned out very well for me!

(my sign still lives with me however :) )

I have one more show in December and will most likely make some more signs and maybe a few frames and Christmas-y things to fill the holes.

I want to extend my sincerest of heart-felt thanks to you all. It was an emotional and busy week for me and you all lifted up my spirits and your encouragement meant the world to me.

From the bottom of my little humbled heart..

THANK YOU MY FRIENDS!!

Now I am going to go have date night with hubby and then hopefully relax and catch up on things tomorrow!

~~Hugs to you all~~

Christmas Display and A Small Request

I put up my first Christmas display the other day with an adorable little tree that I got at a local drug store for $18.

I couldn't pass him up!

The bottom was already wrapped with burlap and I just put him in his new home, the small metal bucket that I used for my Halloween tree!

I had these cloches for a while now and just purchased the flower frogs (thank you Laurie for helping with the name of them :) )

AND

I got this star-shaped mercury glass candle holder at Pier One for $10! YEAH!!!!

Oh, and I have to apologize, the mercury acorns at Walmart were $2.00, not $1.00. I had so much stuff in my cart and I just grabbed them when I saw all them, still well worth it. They do have others for a $1.00 though.
However, I went back today to get some more, but when I found them they were icky!!
They weren't as pretty as the first ones that I had gotten. They looked more like someone had just sprayed flat gray paint, there was no reflection or shine to them.

Bummer.

Oh well, they did have teal ones that were shiny and pretty though so if you are incorporating blues in your home this year for Christmas, these would be perfect!!

Ok, sorry, back to what I was showing you.

Oh!

Here is a collage I made to show you my little display.

I also purchased a year of the upgraded package for Picnik. I tried to download Photoshop as a trial but it wouldn't work on my computer browser that I have (thanks Kat for you help) and instead of doing something to my computer that I would regret, I just purchased this package. It comes with some nice textures and a whole mess of other things that I can play around with.

If I like this, I might just purchase PS CD and install it on my computer if I have enough room.

Anyway, here is a little sample of what Picnik had to offer me!

My small request is just that, my mom is heading to Chicago as I type this to have her 5th sinus surgery. It is hard because my family will not be able to be there (just my dad) when she goes in on Thursday. Chicago is about three hours from us and my brother and I couldn't get things moved around to go.
Tonight she goes to the hospital to get her sinuses mapped out (they are really high-tech there she said and are so ahead of what the hospitals here can do for her anymore) She will then have the surgery Thursday, go back to a hotel Thursday night, then go back to the hospital on Friday to make sure everything is ok before they come home Friday evening.

I don't know if you have ever had sinus surgery before (I hope not) but it hurts and riding in a car for three hours, well, not fun! I have had one before and that is enough for me.

If I could just ask you to send up a little something to the Big Man upstairs, my family and myself would be very thankful. I have not seen her this nervous before any of other surgeries, but she is strong and I know that she will come through it!

My mom has been living with sinus pain (I am talking narcotic pain killers not even working) for about 10 years now. We hope and pray that the doctors there can help alleviate her pain and let her live a normal life again.
(well as normal as you can with me!)

Also, this will be my last post this week. I am putting together last minute things for my show on Friday and Saturday. I will come back Sunday or Monday with updates on everything!

I hope everyone has a wonderful remainder of the week and a restful weekend!

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!

My First Blog!!

Hello everyone! Honestly this is all new to me and I am not sure what or where this is all going to go but, I am going to give it a try!

My goal is to share my vision and dreams of becoming a work-at-home mom. I starting selling on esty a little over a year ago. I started with my frames but have found that a little challenging so I moved onto jewelry. I fell in love with jewelry making in high school art (thank you Mrs. Boyce). My favorite was making rings out of wax mold. I however, cannot do that at this time, maybe some day. So, I am learning the art of wire wrapping and just designing my own pieces out of sterling silver, stones, beads, and whatever catches my eye.

My life is a little hectic with kids so my progress on my business is slow. I am, however, determined, little by little, to get this beast up and running and to become successful, in my own mind, at this craft.

Thank you for following me and I hope that I don't disappoint!
