A Simple Joy

It has been a busy week so far here at the Cove! We have been running kiddos everywhere and tonight my wonderful hubby graduates his Police class and will be an official Police Reserve for our county!! I am so proud of him and I will post more on that later.

I just wanted to thank all of you for your wonderful comments on Raliegh's artwork, she is so talented and so sweet and genuine. I will be posting more of her work in the future. :)

Also, I want to welcome all of my new followers/friends! Thank you so much for joining me in my crazy little world. :)

I have not done much in the way of decorating, I am still working on the bonus room bit by bit. My biggest issue up there is that one of my cats..........

AHEM....

decided that it would be a great place to potty! Yeah Me!!!
SO I have been carpet cleaning and spraying special product up there for days now!!
GGRRRRR!!!!!!

The weather here has also been icky. Remember when I said that the snow didn't stick? Well, I must have made Mother Nature upset because the next morning IT STUCK!!!
Don't fret though, it is gone and now we just have rain, rain and more rain along with high winds.

Last week Friday I think it was, my hubby and daughter were at her basketball practice, my little one and I hunkered down, lit a fire and cozied up The Cove with some candlelight!

(sorry the pictures are not the greatest, that was my attempt at nighttime photography. I still have much to learn)

It felt so warm and cozy in here and to just be able to hear the winds and the rain next to a roaring fire and snuggle with my little man was so relaxing and felt so good.

A simple joy in life for sure. :)

Aaah, Michelle, the fire looks so cosy and lovely.

A good fire tip I've found useful is to focus the camera on the fire and then point it to where you want the photo taken and click. That way the exposure is right for the flames.

But your photos look lovely!!

That photo of your cat is an absolute classic. Look at that cattitude!!

Congrats to hubby on his graduation! I love the fireplace photo. Hope you can fix things upstairs. I'm scheduling a carpet cleaning myself after having my sister in law's dog over for a week. Good times!

I am so glad you had time to sit, relax and enjoy hopefully your last fire before it warms up and stays that way. Cat pee is no fun. Poor you. I think your nightimne pics are good. :)
I enjoyed the candlelight.

We have 6 INCHES of lovely, heavy, wet snow!! YUCK!!!

Stay warm!

Why does everything look so much better by candlelight? I loved your mantel to begin with, but now...! A rainy day can be so cozy when you're inside with a good fire. I think I would suffocate without at least occasional rain.

Hi Michelle
Congratulations to your husband. He must be very proud of himself too.

That fire looks very welcoming and the jars with sand and a candle are some inspiration I'm going to use around the Beach House.

Hope it warms up for you soon and Happy Happy Easter to you and your family.
Best Carolyn

How did you break away from that cozy fire and snuggling to write this post? :) I know I've told you before, but your fp wall is awesome! It's really drizzly, cold and dreary here, today. That fire and your house full of candles just reels me in.

Congrats to your hubby! I bet you are both excited to be starting a new chapter.

Sorry about the kitty mishap, too. He looks very proud of himself...LOL! Our furry friends do some irritating things, at times. Good luck with the bonus room. I know you'll make it special!

Have a great night!

Oh, that naughty kitty! You can see it in his eyes that he knows we are talking about HIM!!! Oh Michelle, we too woke up to snow, but it DID NOT STICK and we got rain in the late afternoon with a lovely rainbow, for the sun was shining brightly. Oh dearest, we will just have to wait, but everyone else seems to have enjoyed their spring before us! OH HOW I LOVE THE CANDLES ON THE MANTEL SITTING IN THE SAND!!!! You have yourself a cozy place here. My two fireplaces are fake, but still very cozy with a battery (shhhhhhhh....) operated candle! Hey, it looks great.

Sending you loads of love and blessings for a super and warm, I HOPE, EASTER!!!! Anita

Michelle..as far as kitty, been there done that a zillion times over...i can tell you (i was a vet tech) that cats will do that when stressed, or if there is a med. issue..check with your vet to make sure kitty doesnt have struvite crystals in the urine...secondly, NEVER EVER clean the area with bleach or ammonia based product...go to your local petsmart or petco and get a gallon of a pet enzymatic (ie petzyme, natures miracle) i actually clean my wood floors with it and my bathroom..has no smell really, but breaks down proteins and KILLS the smell. if kitty is having stress issues try feliway..look it up online..buy your first plug in at the store, but get refills online theyre much cheaper..good luck..love your blog, and hour home....terri the cat herder

I just love your fireplace wall Michelle, those planks were such a good idea and the room looks so nice and cozy with that fire going. Has it been really cold there? It snowed here yesterday. I'm ready for some sun myself.

You may want to take the kitty to the vet for a little check up. We had that problems with our cat and tried everything under the sun to fix it. It turns out he had little crystals or a stone or something in his bladder. After he got it removed everything was all better.

Hope you have a good Easter :)

Michelle, I love these pictures! The first one took my breath away! I truly heart your plank fireplace wall! Love, love, love it! (I kind of have planking on the brain lately!)

I think that is so beautiful and creative how you took those clear glass jars and used sand and votive holders with candles inside! I have a few of those jars, but never would have thought of this!

And finally, I must say how much I love the picture of your faux fireplace as well! It looks so pretty with the candles lit up against it!

I hope you have a wonderful Friday and a beautiful Easter weekend!

Blessings and hugs to you~
