Plank Wall Love

Heellluuuurrrrrr to you!!!!
I hope you had a great weekend!
I know for some it was the last weekend of the summer and I hope you enjoyed it.
We have one more week left and it is going to be a busy one!

I also hope my friends and family on the East Coast stayed safe from the path of Irene.

If you have followed me for a while you know the love affair I have for plank walls.
If I could, I would plank my entire house!!
Overboard, maybe.

BUT I HEART THEM SO MUCH!!

Just look at how beautiful they are!!

They just make me ooohhh and aahhhhh!!!!

Look, you can even do a plank by your plank walls!!

Hardy har har!!
Sorry about that. :)

Anyway where was I?
Oh, for my sons room I wanted to do something on one of his walls to make it feel beachy and cottagey.
I took inspiration from this photo on Pinterest.

And I came up with this.

I used 1 x 10's that were 6 feet long.
I nailed them to the wall and then took 1 x 2's and made the vertical pieces.
For whatever reason I didn't take photos of the process.
Bad blogger!!!

I really loved how it turned out and even found a spot for the driftwood shark.

Speaking of yummy plank walls,
my dear friend Sandra from Frugal French Girl went to visit her niece to help her redo her kitchen and they were offered this beautiful barn wood to make whatever their hearts desired!

This is what they came up with!

Talk about barnwood/plank wall jealousy!!!
To see how the whole kitchen turned out, just go here!

While you are there you have to take a look around at her amazing talent!
Sandra is the sweetest, she can write, she can build, she can decorate and most of all she is such an amazing kindred and friend.

This is her canopy that she built in her gorgeous beachy bedroom!!!

I will be a bit MIA this week.
We are getting ready for school and I have to work extra this week due to the Holiday. The restaurant that I work at is in a resort town so we are planning on being a tad more busy....fingers crossed. :)

Hopefully after school starts I can get back to regular blogs because there is a room that I need to show you! :)

***sorry I posted this again, when I originally posted it it posted with a date of 8/17 I think.
oops! :)

He isn't convinced so far. I know it is simple enough I could do it myself! I love how yours turned out!

Your wall looks great. And that turquois wooden wall in that bathroom is making me drool. I may have to run to the Habitat Restore to see what they have for wood. Have a great and prosperous weekend.

Love the wall Michelle so beautiful! I recognized your inspiration wall right away, it's Layla's from The Lettered Cottage. She has a lot of other great pictures of it on her blog. That was a great wall to emulate. The shark is so cute! Sounds like you have a busy week, enjoy this last week of "no school" :)

love what you did to make your son's room so interesting!

planks!

girl, i am so glad you love 'em because we have nailed a ton of em to the walls in the downstairs reno! Here's the snag: we always intended to paint them white and the other night my son got hasty and began to paint a room, and it's shocking because now they look similar to cement block (ugh!) and we're like STOP PAINTING!!! everyone who has seen the pine planks feels they should stay as is or be stained, but our taste is scandanavian and there are dark floors going in. sooooooooo. i need hand holding. i think we should stick to the initial plan that all the other choices were made around and be willing to deal with friends and family who have a coronary about the painted wood. can you dig it?

Your sons walls look so great! Every time I look around my house I envision wood here - and wood there. Hopefully someday ... was it difficult?

I looooove your son's planks, that looks fantastic. I love plank walls too, I used to be in love with Pottery Barn magazines, and I finally realized that it was all the plank walls and architecture that made me drool-- not the sheets. lol

where did you find that driftwood shark? or did you make it? I love that!

Oh, these are all so yummy! I want my husband to do a plank wall in one of his current construction projects. I know just the spot that would be perfect for it. Your son's room is looking so good, Michelle. It seems like you are always doing so many cool projects.

Aagghh! Your new plank wall is outstanding and completely gorgeous. :) I LOVE the strips of trim that you ran down the wall vertically, and think it adds that perfect beachy touch to the room! The shark looks so cute hung up on the wall, too! :)

I hope this busy week goes smoothly for you, Michelle, and that you have a good Labor Day weekend! :)
