Dresser Redo

Hello my wonderful friends!
I hope that you all had a great weekend!
I was pretty busy this weekend with work (boo)
birthday parties (cheers)
and visiting some longtime friends (woo hoo)

I also had a couple hours to work in my daughters room.
On Sunday, this was my goal....

See that wonderful beam of light that makes the room glow?
I am pretty sure that that is called
THE SUN!!!!
It almost blinded me.
Although, don't get too excited,
it was -8 degrees this morning as I ventured out to get groceries.
But,
I will take the sun!!

Anyway, sorry...
This used to be our dresser that I moved into her room a while ago.
Since I painted the walls white, brought down my craft table, which is white, for a desk until I find one that fits her room, and with the bed
being blue, the wood looked out of place.
So,
I painted it...

and then distressed it a bit.
I am trying to get a beach cottage feel in her room and this
seemed like a perfect thing to do.
(and I like distressing things)

I also put up the window treatments and I will show you soon but I am still trying to find
places for all her stuff!
Can a 12-year-old REALLY have that
MUCH
junk....err.. I mean stuff!!!?????

UGH!!!!

Looks great Michelle! I've never repainted a piece of furniture...do you sand, prime, then paint? Thanks for your sweet comment on my artwork! I made it over the holidays when family tensions were running high...and it made me feel so much better! :)

Loving the white paint on this piece, it looks great! I think you achieved the beachy look you were going for...I can't wait to see the finished room!

Great redo. My son and I were just arguing over his stuff last night. He likes little trinkets to be out all over the place. Too busy and too hard to dust! I can't wait to see more of the room. Enjoy the sun!

Michelle, the dress looks wonderful all painted white. I am redoing a couple of nightstands for my son's room and was wondering if you put anything over your paint to protect it? Like poly or varnish??? I thinkin' I needed a little extra to the finish to hold up being in a teenage boys room.

Thanks for linking up to the "AMAZE me Monday" blog party. Glad you could join us :D

Much more beachy looking now and very cute too!! A coouple of months ago we did a thorough cleaning and sorting of my 11 year old sons roon and had bags of garbage to take out afterwards! I was amazed how much we fit in his tiny room!

Hey there, Meshell!

That beam of light only radiated 8 degrees? Brrr... Listen to me, we are just as cold.

The dresser looks fabulous! I think the white and distressed look is perfect for a Coastal bedroom. I'm still in love with that bed. I can't wait to see her bedding and the room reveal.

Glad you had a good time catching up with friends, this past weekend!

Happy Monday (is that an oxymoron?) :)

Hi Michelle!i read your blog for the very first time and I'm soooo pressed! Such a great re-do! A new life for that dresser! I live 30 meters far from the sea,so the beachy style is my favourite one! Btw,I adore your blog!

-8??? Yikes!!! I can't even imagine.

Your daughter's room is looking good Michelle. Yes, they can accumulate so much stuff, surprising huh?

BTW, I'm not at liberty yet to say what magazine came to shoot my home, but once I can, you will know, of course.

Looking forward to more of your creative DIY's!

Nobody has more junk than a 12 year old girl. I have 3, and it is sort of a wonderful thing. They are still at the point where everything is precious and filled with wonder, sort of like my depression era, victory gardening Mother! I have literally hauled bags of rocks out of my daughter's closet--we are talking feldspar. However, your project is coming along nicely. Even I didn't think you could save that chest. It came out great. Glad to find you.
Best,
Liz
