What Do You Think?

Good afternoon everyone!
I hope that your week is going well.
The sun has been shining all week except for today, we are expecting rain. I don't mind because it will hopefully help melt the snow!
I am loving all these beautiful posts about Spring and flowers, ahhhhh....I can just smell them and feel the sun on my shoulders!

Hopefully all my painting will be done by then. I am getting closer!

The hall and entry way are all painted!

Woo Hoo!!!

It looks so much brighter in here now and I loved they way the room lit up with the sun pouring in this week!

My next task are the doors and the trim. I have been wondering the internet looking at inspiration pictures and I love the way that these look.

I am loving the subtle gray on the trim!
It gives it a bit of color without taking away from the feeling that I am trying to create and even adds another color that speaks "Coastal Cottage" to me.

What do you think?
Have you or do you have another color on your trim/doors other than white?

I know you have seen this image from Coastal Living before but I just wanted to share it again!
I am dreaming of Spring and Summer and would LOVE to just sit there and wash my cares away!
Perhaps you can join me? :)

I hope that you all have a beautiful weekend!

Looks soft and serene like the sea. Love all the inspiration, but especially the pale pale grey trim like in the Elle decor image.

I just wrote you a really long comment, and google just crashed it for me. Anyways, I just want to say your choice of colors are really great! Grey is so in right now and it's also timeless so you're doing great. I didn't realize that you're doing such a huge makeover. I've been there before, and I wish you lots of strength and patience my dear girl. You're amazing!

I love the blue and the grey colors. Perhaps for the hallway area the grey is better. Blue would look really good in a bed room or sitting room, I think. Good job!

I love the greyish trim. I just got a Valspar sample in grey. Alas, all my trim is white. I must change that and branch out and live wild!

Oh congrats hunny!! Big job done!!
Our door trims arepine with a light varnish on them and that way the colour of paint really stands out on the walls.
But the colours shown here are fabulous!!
That first photo is great..very coastal looking and that dog looks just like our Willow (westie)!
I'd love to join you on that swing by the sea...chatting our cares away and giggling with our chais!! :)
Have a beautiful day my sweetie!!

All my love,

I love all of the colored trim! SO gorgeous.

It's looking good, kid :) The inspiration photo from Coastal Living makes the gray seem so serene. That would be my vote! I'm partial to gray these days. It really is the new neutral. We had royal blue ...ewww trim in the boys room (that got painted white) and country blue in the dining room(also painted white). I'm loving this idea! Can't wait to see it all complete!

Everything is looking so beautiful Michelle and I love the idea of doing a slightly different color on the trim! Our doors in our house are all a pale kind of muddy sage-y green and that sounds kind of ugly when I write it out like that :-) but it is really pretty and so fun to have that contrast in tones against the white trim. I think it all adds character and I can totally see you doing something like that in your house!

Yes, go the grey. Love it. I like the blue in the one with the large room, just around the window frames. But for a hallway, something a little more subtle would be better imho. I've seen tacky jobs where people have gone fairly bright with skirtings and architraves and I think it's got to be just right or it stands out like a sore thumb. But I'm all for that grey. It's lovely.

I like your inspiration photos--
am curious about your floor in the hallway~
are you going to paint it like the last photo, there?
I happen to like the grain of the wood on your floor.

Glad Spring is starting to poke itself out of the earth!

I love that grey. So pretty. My sister just painted all her trim black. It looks really pretty. I must say when she first told me I thought, Yipes, but it does look amazing.

Painting can become such a big project. It seems as if it is going well. I think you should go for the light grey/blue color for your trim. It looks amazing in the photos you have found.

I love the look of Between You & Me. I recently read over at Dreamy Whites that she painted a room gray that didn't get very much light and it looked muddy. I wonder if that would happen if you would do that to trim in a not very lit hallway. You can always do just one and see how it turns out.

I'm packing my bags to join you on that swing. I can smell the salty air and fresh lemony iced tea from here!

Heaven's Walk said...

Hey sweetie pie! I would definitely try a real soft pale gray on one thing first and see how it looks with/without the sun and/or lights. I love the idea though!!!! Looking forward to seeing a sample! :) Oh.....and I'll meet'cha on that porch for a margarita! lol!

Girl, you and I , we are on the same wave lenghth here...I have had subtle gray on my mind lately for my maple wood kitchen cabinets....I think you should go for it. In my case, it would extremely alter the mood of the period of my home, but I am willing to do it. My husband, I am not sure!!! BUT GRAY IS IT!!! Light, with FROST white. It is perfect. Let me know what you think...Anita

That bedroom, with the blue trim. Oh my, it feels SO beachy, and the porch swing overlooking the water. AAHHH! I SO needed to see that! We have been averaging a snow storm a week here in New Brunswick.

I about died when I saw that kitchen!!! The crisp white with the pops of color...oh my!!! I so need Spring!
I love the painted trim! You could always try it somewhere and see how you feel before you really go for it. You can always paint it back :)
Hope you gets lots of painting done this weekend!

Well I have used red in my new house and old house and liked them. But I like the lighter colors now. So white is for me now. But I do like the grey next to the white walls. Pretty.

My trims are white..., but those colored ones look really good. Actually..., it never crossed my mind to do trims in a color. A new thought is planted!

Pam Kessler said...

I really do like the light grayish color on the trim. Normally I'm a white trim girl, but I think with white walls light gray is the way to go. I also like that floor with the diamond pattern painted on it.

Anita @ GoingALittleCoastal said...

I do love the look of the gray. But I hate painting trim! So white it is for me. I can change out the wall colors and not have to worry about redoing the trim. But it does look pretty in gray.

mICHELLE! You came yesterday...thank you for your well wishes dearest! WE HAD SOOOOOO MUCH FUN YESTERDAY in this old town on the boarder of Wisconsin and Minnesota, STILLWATER. Main St. has nothing but the coolest shops and ANTIQUE STORES. We were out all day, and it felt good to be out and about like we usually are in the spring and summer. Did you get my email? HAVE A FABULOUS SUNDAY DEAREST! Anita

I think in the hallway the gray would be the best choice, it would be a subtle difference in a long space and I agree, it's a great coastal color.

I would happily join you on that porch, what a view!

i would love to sit there with you...what a lovely place to be! i am loving your inspiration photos, and think it is a great idea to paint the trim. the diagonal checkerboard painted floor is one of my favorite design ideas...i do not have the confidence to tackle that one though, i'm afraid all my measurements would be off and it would be one crooked mess! ;)
