I think that I had left you last week with a sneak peek of some thing that I was working on.
As you know, or may not if you are new here, in which case I welcome you and thank you for tagging along with me, I LOVE fireplaces/faux mantels!!
LOVE!
ALOT!
Well, I have this wall in my kitchen that was lonely and needed to be apart of all the fun.
Last month I went and picked up some Annie Sloan Chalk paint for me and for Laurie (Heaven's Walk),
and I came across this beauty!!
PERFECT!!!!
I had to have her so I told myself that if I did not spend the money that I saved for last flea market I would come back and if she was there, I would take her home.
Well, as fate would have it, or just dumb luck, I hardly spent anything at the market, went to the store the next day,
she was there and now she is here!!!
So much lighter and brighter.
I added some of my beachy things and treasured treasures.
This summer I picked up this map/poster of Leelanau County which is the county that Glen Lake is in.
I just love the vintage feel of it and the colors are perfect!
Traverse City is known as the Cherry Capital and almost everything up there has places that bake the cherries into everything!!
YUM!
I also found a perfect, and appropriate home for the sweet gift that Laurie sent me as a thank you for getting her some paint.
A gorgeous aqua jar and one of her beautiful clay tags.
Thank you sweets!!!
I also ordered faux logs to go in the opening of the mantel.
It is supposed to have the lights and crackles like a real fireplace.
Unfortunately no heat, but I just love the idea of the sights and sounds of a real fire to feel cozy all through fall and winter.
I will show you once I get it in!

She's a beauty for sure and I love the map!
Very cool! Did you use the chalk paint on the faux mantel? I just purchased and received some myself (via mail) and will be trying it out this weekend.

looks fabulous~
Fab! Perfect for your home. Where do you get the fake logs? Cheers mein Freund
As I was reading along, I wondered about that gaping hole in the frantel...so happy to know that thought was given to it and that we'll get another peek at the finished product. When I did the fake mantel, I filled the back with a large mirror to reflect the light of candles or miniature Christmas tree lights.
Oh hunny this is so wonderful!!!!
What a gorgeous fireplace..love how you've adorned her!!
That clay heart is the sweetest and sweeter still from such a beautiful friend!
The map is perfect in this setting, and how heart-warming to have it of Glen lake!
Faux logs sound fabulous! What a beautiful way to warm up your kitchen with beauty!
Oh you just never cease to amaze me with your giftings...
Love you so!!!!

Love how your fireplace mantel turned out! you are so talented and you inspire me to do stuff, but part of the problem I never do it!
I am such a fireplace lover myself. I use any excuse to light it up in the winter. My kids think I am nuts! I wish I had one in the bedroom. I thought about putting a faux on there, maybe I will.
Looks terrific. I can see a whole bunch of candles and votives and blingy things in it.
**Sigh** It's so pretty! You can't get more perfect for your kitchen. I love that you'll be adding the faux logs - sure home you'll show them to us once you have them installed. It will add such a nice element to the room.
I've been thinking about adding a mantel to my living room, you may have just tipped the scale to a big fat YES
i love the way the mantle is decorated- so beachy, so you! and i agree that they add a cozy feeling to any room!
Michelle it is such a great piece and you have decorated it beautifully! I adore the vintage map. For the first time we are in a home with no fireplace and I've been thinking about putting a mantel in our living room. Hmmm, we'll see. :)
Wow! Looks straight from a magazine. Beautiful. The map is so charming! You amaze me girlfriend.
It is absolutely gorgeous Michelle! Totally meant to be yours and you dressed her up perfectly! :-)

P.S. Love the term "frantel"...lol!
This looks so great..., faux & beau!! If I was more invested in our home (I prefer to sell it, rather than work on it) I'd totally do something like this.
Oh my goodness. Love the white you painted the mantel. I love your map too. How fun is that?
Wow-What a difference a color makes. I love the change!
Michelle this is such a great idea and I love the way you have styled it. You are so talented.

Hi Michelle,
I've been checking out your blog for a while now and I love love love your new mantle. I have to ask about the amazing map - does it who Petosky? I love that city. My mother-in-law used to live in the UP in St. Ignace and whenever we'd go to visit (from California) I would always try to squeeze in some shopping in Petosky. Do you have any idea how I could get a copy of that map? That would be awesome to remember those fun times.

Oops - I meant does it "show" Petosky? Guess it's time for bed!
So great Michelle! I'd love to have a faux fire place like this as well - so easy and so decorative! And love your practical way of geting right down to doing things, instead of waiting. Huhs for a happy weekend!
I have a faux fireplace as well. It's in my bedroom. I love that yours has so much dimension to it. Mine is rather flat. Love the white!
That turned out great. I love the look.
Stunning Michele, just stunning. You ought to be a stylist for a magazine! What a lucky lady you are to find something so cool. I have never seen a mantle for sale around here. I can't wait to see the insert. We have no fireplace and I want one really badly. Hope your week is as lovely as you are :) {{{hugs}}}
