What Day Is It?

I have forgotten how big my kitchen/dining area really is (even though my hubby swears we are losing square footage with all the paint coats that are on the wall).

I feel like I have been painting for weeks!

Even my frig is feeling the effects!

NOT a healthy diet!!

Once again the cat decides to sit in the window right AFTER I painted it!!!

Remember this? Yeah, he strikes again!!

At least this time there are no paws prints all over the floor, but I did have to repaint the window sill again.

He seems pretty upset about it too!

Anyway, remember the "Sharky Grey" that I had and wasn't sure where to put it? Well, I think that I have found a place for it? I think it would make the hutch "pop".

What do you think?

I have also purchased some fabric samples that I will show you later. I hope to recover the bench seating.

We are also going to a flea market on Sunday and I REALLY excited because this is my first big flea market!! I know, sad that I have waited this long.

I should be done painting the walls today and then on to more cabinets!

Wood Tool Box Reveal!

I just wanted to thank you so much for the wonderful comments you left about my 'finds' that I painted this weekend, it means so much to me to hear what you think!

I am trying to get ready for our Annual Art in the Park coming up this Saturday to sell some of my picture frames. So yesterday I started making some more to bring with me.

Here is a quick peek at my craft room.

We converted our attic into a bonus room and I claimed it as my room!!

It is in need of a change, but that will have to be a winter project.

After about an 1/2 hour of gluing and sanding, I was getting antsy to start on my tool box that I purchased last weekend. I bought the paint and supplies yesterday before work, so I had this great idea that I could still make frames in between coats of paint on the tool box!

Here is the tool box as I purchased it. No cool paint-box this time, I couldn't find anything big enough (sorry honey). But at least I got it off the driveway!

I purchased the new "1 can is equal to 2 cans" primer and paint.

I have to say it worked AMAZING!! I only used 1 can!!

The paint color was Aqua and I think that I only used 3/4 of the can for this and it covered great!

Even covered my fingers!! Maybe I should have worn gloves?

I also purchased some rope that I thought would look great on the handle. It was pretty to easy to put on after I decided that a staple gun would be less messier than gluing it on.

It got a little tedious wrapping the rope, so I enlisted my daughter to help!

Finished up with the last staple AND..........

VIOLA!!!!!!

I am really happy with the way it turned it out!

Apparently everyone needs to be in a picture! She (this is Baja) jumped up as I was snapping pictures!

Now I have a great place to put all my magazines that are always scattered all over!

Needless to say, I did not work anymore on the frames. The tool box was just so much fun!!

Looky what else I did last weekend!!

This was a fun project as well! Layla from The Lettered Cottage made one for her mantel and I thought that it would be a great piece for above my bed!

It was so much fun doing projects again, I haven't really done any in a while. You are all so inspirational and really got my wheels-a-turning again!

A Little Bit of Everything Weekend

This weekend had a little bit of everything for me. It started on Friday when I went to Hobby Lobby and browsed their clearance section and found these great little pieces...

A large candleholder for $4!

This cute little lighthouse! I did pay $8 for it but it was the right height for what I had in mind.

Both of these pieces, of course, were SCREAMING "PAINT ME!!"

SO....

My husband, son and daughter quickly went to try out the tag-along that we borrowed from my sister-in-law. He tends to cringe when I get out the paint.

I dug into my collection of spray paint. I chose a cream color for the candle holder and a basic white for the light house.

Put the them both into a box because......

my other projects tend to make their mark on the driveway....

oops!

While they were drying we decided to go to our county fair for some of the best junk food EVER.....

ELEPHANT EARS!!!!!

After our bellies were full we went back home and I finished putting the finishing touches on my pieces.

I sanded them a bit and on the candle holder I placed a cute little aqua ribbon with a starfish ornament that my mom bought me a while ago.

I thought that it looked perfect there!

The only thing that I added to the light house was the blue thin ribbon for the rails.

We also went to a local antique store and I found this great old wooden tool box that I am going to re-new this week.

Ode to White Paint

As I find my way through the blogging world and come across sites that share the same interests as I do such as the beach, decorating, summer, and my favorite.....white paint!!!! My husband thinks that I am crazy because anytime I buy an old piece of furniture or fix up hand-me-downs, I paint them white. So I have presented a few of my obsession-filled works!

This is a chest of drawers that was handed down to me from my grandparents. It was still in great shape but the wood stain was very dark.

This was given to me from my mom. They remodeled their kitchen and had no need for this hutch anymore so I took it and of course painted it white!

This window has special memories for me. It was a window from our old cottage. It was painted in dark green. Now it hangs in my bathroom and I just love the way it turned out!

I got this table at Lowe's unfinished.....so I finished it white!

My shelves that you saw earlier.

This was my mother-in-law's that she had stored in her basement. We needed a kitchen table so I was able to have this. It was a dark oak. I glued pine to the top of the table because I was unable to sand it enough for paint to stick. Sanded the rest of the table, painted it white and distressed it a little bit to give it that beachy feel!

When we moved into our house, all of the woodwork was that 1970's dark oak (not that there is anything wrong with that, but I wanted something a little brighter!) so I sanded and painted all our cupboards and trim white. It really brightened up the kitchen! Now to replace that nasty flouescent light above!

Another project that I did right away was painting the brown brick and brown mantel on our fireplace. It really gave the house that beach cottage feel. I love having a fire now because everything just glows and feels so cozy!

My biggest white-paint project that I tackled was last year. Our carpet became the spot for nasty pet smells and was just so dirty from two dogs and two cats that we ripped it up and painted the sub-flooring white. I had seen this before on a DIY show and thought, why the heck not. It was a big project and a mess!

I am so glad that he is comfortable!!!!!!

Luckily is was water-based paint and cleaned up pretty easy!

White paint is the greatest! I love the way everything feels and looks clean. Not sure what my next project is but I am sure that I will find something to drive my husband nuts!
