My Dilemma...

Thank goodness it is Friday!!! I am ready to write this week off and never to revisit it!!

Nothing really major that happened it was just a compilation of those annoying little things that finally get to you and break you down!! My daughter has been having issues sleeping at night off and on for about 4 years now. This week it hit the breaking point. We are all tired, stressed and and when that happens even a fly landing on your food can start a flood of tears.

BUT,

It is a new day and the weekend is here, so I will put my big girl panties on, suck it up and go

JUNKIN!!!!

However,

I need your help!!

remember my little teaser last week?

Here is what my entry/laundry/dog room looked like before

Not bad, I really liked my beachy thing going on here, but it didn't flow with my kitchen anymore.

So, I took the paint color (wood smoke) that I used for my hutch, added some white to it to lighten it up and painted!

I still have my beach thing going on, but here is my dilemma..

I have nowhere to hang coats. I have a few hooks, but in the winter when there are heavy jackets and wet snow pants, gloves, scarves, etc there is no place to put them and it gets a little crowded in there!

I put the dog cage up on a little table that I made (which was for a bench that didn't turn out) so I can have more floor space for shoes and boots.

My room is seriously only 5' x 8' and I need there to be enough room for my brother-in-law to get in with his wheelchair.

I was looking at Houzz and found some of these ideas that I really like.

Unknown

I would LOVE a locker system like this. This is pretty narrow and I think that we can put one where the Lake Michigan sign hangs.

This is very similar with just a wide open section to hang coats and a narrow bench. I would put hooks on the wainscoting to hang coats.

OR

I can put the house up for sale and move into one with a beautiful room like this!

I would love any ideas, suggestions (offers on the house) that you may have for me.

Hopefully the new house will have a bathroom like this one!

Just kidding, I like my house, but these teenie tiny rooms are making me crazy!!!

I love the locker system and after looking at the bottom pics. I'am ready to sell my house so I can get a house with a soaking tub like that!!! Happy Friday!

Michelle I love the changes you've made to your mud/laundry/puppy room, that paint color is really pretty! As far as the design of something to hold coats is concerned, I love all of your choices. That shallow one if you installed hooks on the inside would work if you are trying to save space!

I hope your weekend goes a little more smoothly than your week and that you all get some shut eye!

I like that first one. You could do baskets to put gloves, scarves, shoes etc in them and they would be cute and funtioning.

LOVE the new paint color!! If I get time this weekend, (ha!) I really want to paint my family room a similiar color as that, that I have picked out! I love all the pics too- how about putting the dog cage under that bench (if it fits) and putting a boot tray on top of that bench? Just an idea!

The paint's gorgeous, Michelle. So calm. Coats really aren't an issue here. Do you have a piece of driftwood large & substantial enough to (insert your idea)...?

I played Lotto today so maybe my rooms can be bigger too! What about lovely stackable baskets with each persons name on it?

Hey Michelle,

Here's a big cyber-hug to you. *squeeze* I'm so sorry your week's been a bit crummy. I hope you have a really warm and wonderful family weekend.

I really like the colour of your new room. It's lovely and misty. And I guess your hutch will tie in beautifully too.

Re: coats, etc, you're not the only one to have this problem. I've even found myself thinking, "Why don't we just *not* wear coats"'!! I love the first option. Really like it. So pracctical and stylish too!

And (last thing, I promise!), I bet if you moved to that dreamy house, there'd be problems there too! Look at the squsah to squeeze through to the bath. That wold niggle me after the first "Wow" moment. No such thingas a dream house, I think, only a house that you choose to love....and your's is looking fab, Missus. xx

I love the first solution..., you could built something like that into that corner where the sign and the cage is..., using up all the wall space you have there.

Hey Michelle! Wanted to quickly say thanks for linking up to the party this week! The post with the great shutter find was perfectly inspiring!
:-) I feel your pain about where to hang coats up! We also have a lot of wet coats here in the NW so that is an added dilemma because they need room to dry out! Does that dresser next to the washer and dryer have to stay? I was thinking you could put in some kind of wrap around system that would go from the washer/dryer, round the corner and over to that side of the window??? It would leave the other side open for easy entry. Just my two cents for whatever its worth...which is not much! :-) Whatever you do will be just perfect and beautiful and this is motivating me to warm up my own laundry room!

I understand how you feel Michelle...hope today starts a brand new week for you with more rest for everyone. :)
First of all..love the colour you painted the room..its great! And I love that Michigan photo.
That first photo from Houzz is perfect!
A place to hang coats, PLUS a place to store boots, shoes, etc.
What a great idea!
Theres a photo I have saved somewhere of a wooden board with all sturdy hooks that might work... for hanging the coats anyway..
Ill send you an email...
All the photos are beautful my friend.
You've been a busy girl..

Have a great weekend hun!

Hello friend. Sorry you've had an even slightly crummy week. That's no fun. I hope you have a much better weekend. Give yourself a hug for me.

I live in a house with small spaces too, so I am always trying to squeeze more storage out of every nook and cranny. Here's a suggestion. I see you have a register under the window, so no doggy cage there. Could you build a unit like either the first or second, with shoe storage underneath on the wall right of the window, then move the dresser under the window. Then you could use the space where the dresser is to build storage shelves with baskets for hats and mittens and other storage, leaving space at the bottom for the dog pen.

Only you know what will work in your room though, and I know you will come up the the perfect solution. Blessings.

Hope your day is getting better! The stress from lack of sleep is the worse.

I wish I had more words of wisdom for you laundry room. But I too have the same issues. I now have a great new half bath but lost some needed storge so I'm searching for some answers too. I like the idea of the first pic. But I don't even have room for that. I think it could work in your room though.

I really love the locker idea! I agree, heavy coats are such a pain (but necessary!). Have a lovely weekend, my dear! XX!

Oh, Michelle ---- I can sooo empathize with you, girlfriend! You should see our entryway. It's about 5 x 5! Add 3 steps into that and you've got one teeny "room" in an old farmhouse. I did hang a pretty board with vintage hooks on wall where the steps are. Boots/shoes go into a little cubby built into the wall. I love the idea of the narrow 'locker' type wall for your laundry room. That would solve a variety of probs for you. Oh, and the new color is fabulous!!!! Hope next week is easier on you.... :)

you have a beautiful house, i really like your kitchen and laundry room, the cabinets in the laundry room are very aplytly places, at the bottom and top leaving the middle space for other things to be placed, very neat and organized launrdy room you have with everything in its proper place
