Hello there!! I am so excited to finally show you my laundry/entry/dog room dilemma solution!!
You all have been so great and so full of wonderful ideas, thank you, thank you!!!
I teased you with my pile of stuff that I found last Friday,
and Sunday hubby and I went to work on my vision!
(Although it took a bit of explaining and poorly drawn out plans to help him envision my vision!)
I started by putting together this very cheap bookshelf from Target.
I just did the frame and left out the shelves for now and threw away the icky back board that was really flimsy!
I knew the dimension were a bit off from my screen door that I wanted to use (I will show you that in a minute) so we had to build the shelf up higher buy adding this base from a 1x12.
We also had to make it a tad wider so we added 1x2's around the outside frame of the shelf. This also gave it some more stability.
Then we added another frame to the shelf, this time on the front to give it more of a clean look and also to be able to hang the screened door onto it.
Screwed in a board onto the bottom of the middle shelf in order to anchor the whole thing to the wall.
It is now ready to paint!!
I probably should have painted it before I put it up but I am so ADD that I HAD to see what it looked like up in the room!
While the paint was drying I moved on to the screened door. This door was hanging in our garage entry to this particular room but we had removed it because it was in the way of my brother-in-laws wheelchair and it was slowly falling apart.
I know I could have have re-screened it, but I liked the chicken wire better!!
I also did a poopy paint job on it a while ago but little did I know that it would be perfect all shabby and chippy and beat up!!
and stapled it into the door.
I then hung the door and added a simple little latch to help keep the door closed.
Put these little metal baskets that I also found at Target in and labeled them with the first letter of our names.
Hung some pretty little hooks on the inside for our coats,
and wah-la!!!!!!
A great little locker to hold all of our coats and shoes and dog food!
(sorry about the picture, i was in a hurry last night)
I would still love a little farmhouse table over the dog cage for folding laundry and also some shelves above that for more junk!
I am really happy with the way it turned out. There is more room and now and it just looks cuter than a bunch of coats hung all over the place!
I hope you like it!
I am linking up to the parties in my Linky Parties tab.

Nope sorry I don't like it. I LOVE it. It is so cute. I love the chicken wire. black baskets, jars on top etc. etc
I think it looks great..., the chicken wire is a nice touch and the labeled baskets are neat and make so much sense -mission accomplished!!
It turned out great Michelle!! What a fantastic way to add extra storage!
That is fabulous! I would never dream that up. I love that its slim & not bulky. Love it!
Well done! You've done brilliantly at turning your inspiration into reality.
Chicken wire certainly does hurt, doesn't it?
I hope your wounds heals quickly. :-)
Michelle! That looks so wonderful! I love it! You really did such a great job and it is so creative. I am always in awe of folks like you who can come up with these things! Can you come do my laundry room next? :-)
Vanessa
Super duper cute! I love the screen door. The way you added trim is ingenious. I want to add some doors onto a couple of shelves like this, but didn't know how to go about it. Now I do...thank you for posting the how-to!
Hello Michelle,
wat a great idee!!!!
That is very very nice.
greatings send you Conny
Fabulous Michelle! You even lined up the shelves with the lines of the door. You must be reading my mind though. I'm thinking along the same lines for my laundry room. Only I think I need to use cabinet doors or windows as my space is only 24 inches wide. I love the idea of raising it up too. I missed out on some tongue and groove doors at the Restore a few weeks ago and am kicking myself still. Need to go back and see what else they might have for a door!
Fantastic and very organized!

So creative! I love it! It is a perfect combination of farmhouse, and modern with an overall vintage feel! great work!
I love the door with the chiken wire! Looks terrific. I've been looking for a wood, screened door for our laundry room entry. They are hard to find.
Hey Michell! Just had to come back by and say thanks for linking this up to the party today and for your sweet comments! You are definitely one talented gal and THAT is inspirational to me!
Vanessa
Love that little locker!!! The chicken wire door is FABULOUS!!! I love doors with wire- plus if you want to hide any messiness or just want a different look- you can always add a fabric panel easy enough. Wish I had space in my laundry 'closet' for something so charming as this!! I love it! Great job!! Thank you for joining Feathered Nest Friday and sharing this! :)
You did an awesome job! Love the chicken wire... it looks great!
Michelle, what an outstanding job you did. The vision was amazing, and it turned out so darn cool. The wire is awesome, and gives it so much character. THANK YOU so much for linking up to **Amaze me August**, I love having you over. Bella :)
you have done a handy job with makig this locker, the thing is that you dont need too fancy stuff when it comes to hanging things in your laundry room and instead of buying a too expensive locker or coat hanger, you used your hands and came up with a great thing, storage with purpose, i like it
Oh gosh... standard schmandard to heaven sent!! This is soooo cool! I love screen doors anyway but the fact that you turned simple melamine cupboards into something to die for is stunning! Very very cool. Watch for a SNS sidebar feature soon. :)

You are so clever...and great vision. I love this, super cute and handy!
Very clever cupboard idea!
LOL! Had to laugh at you giving yourself a hard time about your "poopy paint job", Michelle! LOL! What a clever clever girl you are!!! Love this idea! And it looks just fantastic there! What did hubby say when it was all done? Did he like it? Does he now think that you're the brains and he's the brawn....? :) Have a great day, friend! :)
xoxo laurie
I just think this is the neatest thing! I NEVER would've thought to modify the shelf unit! A stroke of genius...I love this. & I don't have a proper folding table either & I want one too. tfs! Be blessed, Karyl
So cute...if you get tired of the chicken wire...you could always insert panels with chalk board paint to make your to-do lists ;) Have a great week, fondly, Roberta
